Satyanarayan Puja or Satyanarayan Vrata is an auspicious Hindu religious observance that is followed on special occasions like house entry ceremony, marriage, and naming ceremony.
This puja can be done anywhere in-home or temple on any day regardless of the reason. Satyanarayan Puja is commonly done on the Poornima day (Full Moon) of every month or the month in which you wish to perform.
The Satyanarayan Puja starts with a prayer of Lord Ganesha who is considered as an abolisher of all difficulties. The puja is done by chanting the Lord Ganesha mantras and offering his favorite Prasad Modaka and Ladoo.
Once after the Ganesha Puja, devotees would start reading Satyanarayan Katha which consists of 5 chapters. After completing all 5 chapters in Satyanarayan Swami Katha, Prasad will be distributed to all devotees and observers who participated in the puja.
Satyanarayan Puja Prasad is made up of Ghee, semolina, sugar, milk and etc. Another prasad is called Satyanarayan Maha Puja Prasad which is similar to Sajige or Halwa or Semolina Sheera.
